Uralkali is one of the world’s leading producers of potash fertiliser and one of Russia’s largest chemical companies. "We produce potash fertilisers to ensure people all over the world are provided with food, and to support the growth of our Company and the welfare of our employees and local communities, through efficient and responsible development of unique potash deposits." The company was founded in 1930 as a state-owned enterprise, and reincorporated as a joint-stock company in 1992. In 2007, Uralkali became the first Russian chemical company to go public when it successfully listed its shares on the RTS and MICEX exchanges in Russia, and also on the London Stock Exchange. In 2011 Uralkali merged with its Russian rival Silvinit to form the worl'ds largest potash producer. The company now has a share of around 20% of the global market for potash fertiliser, selling its products in over 60 countries. The Company’s assets consist of 5 mines and 7 ore-treatment mills situated in the towns of Berezniki and Solikamsk (Perm Region, Russia). Uralkali employs ca.11,000 people (in the main production unit).
